Our CurriculumThe Children’s Path follows a Reggio inspired approach, in which follows the emergent curriculum that is based upon children’s conversations, family/community events and known interests to children. We as a Reggio inspired centre, believe in ‘The Hundred Languages’; we truly believe each child is unique, full of potential and has their own path to learning. The Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) Framework assists our educators in their planning. When planning our curriculum, the 5 ELECT domains (Cognitive, Physical, Social, Emotional and Communication) are integrated to guide children’s development.
The following areas will be including when planning based on children’s interests: • Early Literacy and Math • Creative/Dramatic Arts • Cognitive and Fine Motor • Gross Motor/Outdoor Experiences • Circle/Group Time • Science and Nature We also offer varied special programs and activities, which include: • Yoga/Zumba • Basic French/Italian • Music • Alterier (Art centre/workshop) • Children of Character Program • Manners and Proper Etiquette |
Special Programs & ActivitiesOur Special Programs/Activities will be offered at various times throughout each month / year. There will be a Special Activity which occurs daily within the Toddler and Preschool Classrooms. Our Children of Character Program is a program in which we foster a different character trait each month, as we believe social emotional development within children is vital. We will foster this trait throughout the month through literacy, activities and social interactions in both the Toddler and Preschool Classrooms. Some positive traits we will focus on include; kindness, helpfulness, leadership and empathy. At the end of every month, each child will be recognized on how they were able to emulate the particular character trait. Please note that our curriculum is ever evolving, as we like to keep up with the interests of the children who attend our centre.
